The CELUS team continues their collaboration with librarians at subscribing institutions to identify and implement practical functionality that has a measurable impact on collection development and e-resource management.
With the release of version 7.0 of the CELUS platform, subscribers will find the following new features and functionality:
- Harvesting: A set of optimal monthly harvest dates for each of COUNTER-compliant resource has been identified and distributed across every library’s CELUS instance. An artificial intelligence algorithm is used to review the historical harvest dates and then devise a preferred date for harvest. The CELUS platform will try to harvest COUNTER data three more times past the optimized date, before displaying an alert code. This new AI-based methodology for establishing the optimal harvest date streamlines the harvest process for librarians.
- Overlap Analysis: The usage metrics used in the platform’s overlap analysis was modified to include only one, the COUNTER 5 “Total Item Requests”; thereby, ignoring implied COUNTER 5 access metrics such as “Investigations”, “Searches”, and “Denials.” The use of “Total Item Requests” will improve the accuracy of e-content overlap analyses.
- Non-COUNTER e-Resources: The number of non-COUNTER usage stats configurations was increased by 22, bringing the total to 122. Each CELUS non-COUNTER configuration includes a detailed description of the format requirements for manually uploading usage data into the platform. This new group of nearly two dozen non-COUNTER configurations was developed in partnership with several subscribing medical and law librarians.
- SUSHI Credentials: A new video has been created and made available to help librarians with identifying and loading their SUSHI credentials. Links to access the video have been added to the SUSHI configuration dialog box. In addition, a new warning dialog will be presented if the user attempts to add a SUSHI credential that already exists.
